Our therapeutic approach

We use dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) in many of our group sessions. It is a form of therapy designed to help those who struggle to regulate their emotional responses and often act impulsively through self-destructive and avoidance behaviors.

DBT can help patients to:

  • Develop coping skills to improve personal well-being
  • Improve emotion-regulation skills
  • Improve interpersonal and communication skills
  • Increase awareness of emotional triggers and impulsive behaviors
  • Increase awareness of mood-dependent behaviors
  • Learn skills for tolerating negative and painful emotions
  • Learn how to identify and respond to relapse triggers
  • Reinforce 12-step core principles

Our behavioral health services

Being sensitive to the personal life experiences of each patient and showing genuine empathy are essential to the healing process, which is why this is something all of our patients can expect to see from each member of our staff.

Mental health assessments

Mental health assessments are available in our emergency room (ER) 24/7.

Inpatient psychiatric care

Inpatient treatment is for adults ages 18 years old and older whose acute mental illnesses or addictions require immediate diagnosis, intervention and stabilization. This program operates on the fifth floor of our hospital in its own wing, to ensure privacy and a peaceful setting that enables a quick recovery.

Designed to address each patient's individual needs, our services and treatments include:

  • 24/7 coverage by local, respected psychiatrists
  • Family support and education groups
  • Grief management
  • Group and individual follow-up treatment
  • Group and individual therapy
  • Medication assessment
  • Pastoral care services
  • Psycho-educational groups

Outpatient behavioral health care

Our intensive outpatient program (IOP) is in our behavioral health clinic. It provides psychiatric care for patients who do not need to be hospitalized. We treat patients in a structured therapeutic environment. This strategy addresses mental and emotional health needs and provides a supportive and caring environment.

The adult IOP can help patients:

  • Change unhealthy behavior patterns
  • Develop and/or improve use of healthy coping skills
  • Identify, challenge and modify unhealthy thoughts and beliefs
  • Improve communication skills
  • Improve their ability to problem solve and cope with emotional crises
  • Recognize personal strengths and problem areas
  • Set immediate and long-term goals
If you are in an emergency situation, including a situation in which harmful or suicidal behaviors are possible, call 911.
