Robot-assisted spinal fusion
St. Mark's Hospital was the second hospital in the world—and the first community hospital worldwide—to use a special surgical robot for spinal fusions. This sophisticated robotic surgery technology optimizes patient care by combining the benefits of intraoperative navigation and robotic guidance into one technology.
As part of this, the technology features an integrated navigation platform, which seamlessly combines real-time X-rays (taken during the surgery) with preoperative imaging scans. This combination provides a 3D view and highly accurate guidance so surgeons can place spinal hardware with extreme precision.
Our spine surgeons use this minimally invasive technology to treat traumatic spinal injuries and spinal instability due to conditions such as scoliosis and spondylolisthesis.
