Pulmonary diagnostic tests
Pulmonary diagnostic tests are a series of tests which evaluate how well the lungs are performing. These tests may be performed to help diagnose and/or monitor disease progression or therapeutic intervention over time or to evaluate disability. Pulmonary tests offered at Mountain View Hospital include:
- Full PFT (Pulmonary Function Tests)
- Spirometry
- MIP and MEP tests
6-minute walk tests
6-min walk test are useful in assessing aerobic capacity and endurance. We will measure the distance you can cover over a 6-minute walk while monitoring heart rate, oxygen levels and work of breathing.
Arterial blood gases
Arterial blood gases are used to measure pH, oxygen levels and carbon dioxide levels in your blood. This test is performed by taking blood from an artery with a needle.
Suction clinic
The suction clinic offers an opportunity for parents to bring their infants in to have their airway rinsed and cleared of secretions that may impede feedings or sleep. A suction is usually provided once a day, can take as little as 10 min and is offered 24/7. Patients must have a suction clinic order from their physician.
In-home sleep apnea test
This at-home test uses a smartphone app to send data to the Cloud. Zoll WatchPAT ONE detects all major types of sleep apnea events and measures several metrics during your sleep. A physician order is required.
Our cardiopulmonary department also manages testing related to cardiology. Learn more about Cardiac Rehabilitation testing.
