Maternity classes and hospital tours

As part of our prenatal services, our hospitals provide maternity classes and labor, delivery and postpartum tours.

Our maternity classes cover a wide range of topics, including childbirth education, to help you prepare for labor and delivery. Additionally, our tours are designed to help you learn what to expect during your maternity stay and provide an opportunity for you to ask our childbirth experts any questions you may have.

Midwifery services

Our hospitals offer midwifery services from certified nurse midwives (CNMs). A CNM can partner with you for a variety of women's health needs, including maternity care. Our CNMs can support you through your pregnancy, labor, delivery and recovery—consulting with an OBGYN when necessary.

Labor and delivery

Our hospitals provide spacious birthing suites, soothing amenities and a variety of pain management techniques so you can experience childbirth the way you want. For example, maybe you want to share this experience quietly with your partner, or maybe you'd rather have loved ones gather around in joyful celebration. Perhaps you’re considering an epidural during labor or a natural childbirth using non-medicinal forms of pain management. However you choose to bring your baby into the world, we respect your decision and support you with many birthing options at our hospitals.

Neonatal intensive care

Sometimes, babies need a little extra support after birth. This is why our hospitals provide neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) in their maternity units. Here, our neonatal doctors and nurses provide gentle, expert care to ill and premature newborns.

If your baby does need to stay in the NICU, our NICU teams are dedicated to family-centered care. We encourage you to continue bonding with your newborn and are here to support you however we can.

Postpartum care

We provide you with abundant postpartum support and encouragement after you give birth—both in the hospital and after you transition home. Our goal is to help make your post-delivery experience as enjoyable as possible, so our postpartum care services range from breastfeeding support to postpartum depression treatment.

Postpartum depression treatment

Many women experience the "baby blues" after childbirth, which can last for several days or a couple of weeks. However, some women also develop postpartum depression, which is defined as having symptoms of depression lasting longer than two weeks.

If you think you may have postpartum depression, talk to your OBGYN or midwife about your symptoms and the treatments available. Our MountainStar Healthcare family of hospitals provides behavioral health programs throughout northern Utah so you have many options for care.

Utah Newborn Safe Haven

If you cannot care for your newborn, you can give up custody anonymously at any hospital in Utah, such as a Utah Newborn Safe Haven hospital like ours. Utah Newborn Safe Haven is here to offer compassion and help.
