Allison Boling

When Allison and Josh found out they were going to have a child, they searched for a hospital that made them feel comfortable. Even during a pandemic, they found that comfort at Cache Valley Hospital.

Our biggest reason for choosing to deliver at Cache Valley Hospital was because it seemed to be a lower risk facility. From medical advice we’ve gotten, and the other things we found while doing research, this hospital seemed like a better fit for us. We heard this hospital was more like a birth center as far as the ambiance, which really appealed to us. Also, the LRDP rooms are huge! It’s been so great to be able to labor, deliver and recover in the same room.

After looking up Dr. Kristin Craig, OBGYN, up online we were very impressed. She had phenomenal reviews and lots of experience in the valley. She has been amazing! We explained that we were a little fearful about delivering in the hospital, and about the slight possibility of exposing our little girl to any possible COVID patients. However, Dr. Craig was great to reassure us everything would be ok, explaining that the Labor and Delivery Unit was its own separate wing and that the hospital had protocols in place. We felt safe.

While we didn’t feel like the restrictive visitor policy unreasonable, we had wished that our parents could be in the hospital to meet our new addition. We did FaceTime with both sets of grandparents. They came from far away, but they were very understanding of our worries. We do want to continue to be cautious and have masks for them to wear when we do take little Alaina home.

To the other moms in the valley who may be pregnant during the pandemic, I would say it wasn’t as scary as we thought. The hospital is really clean and has great protocols in place to keep everyone safe. We’ve had awesome staff that reassured the whole time that our little girl would be safe. They made the environment very calm and comforting. All the nurses and our doctor have been great.
