An amazing birthing experience
After less-than-satisfactory birthing experiences with her first two children, Katie switched to Cache Valley Hospital.
“From start to finish and beyond, my experiences giving birth at Cache Valley Hospital were wonderful.”
Katie and her husband have lived in Logan for eight years. They have four children, and the last two were born at Cache Valley Hospital.
“My first two delivery experiences at another local hospital, mainly in the recovery unit, were awful. I felt like I’d been forgotten. I was really happy when my OBGYN changed practices and I could choose Cache Valley Hospital.”
From the moment Katie and her husband arrived at Cache Valley Hospital, they knew that delivering baby number three would be a much better experience. Katie says that she received an epidural quickly, and one of the biggest perks for her was not having to change rooms after delivery.
“My nurses went above and beyond. If I needed something, they came right after I pushed the button. I felt heard, and I felt cared for. It felt like I was their only patient — in a good way.”
Katie’s husband enjoyed the snack room, just down the hall from the delivery room, where he could get beverages and food for himself without leaving the hospital. This was especially important to him during the birth of their fourth child, who took longer than expected to make her appearance. Additionally, the comfy recliner and extra space in the room ensured that dad could get some sleep.
“We especially loved the free newborn photoshoot. I’ve never heard of another hospital offering this service, and it’s great! We were able to choose an outfit — one of our own or one from the hospital — and they had a cute background. They even let us add in a sign with her name on it. I think we had six shots to choose from, and they turned out so cute!”
Another perk of delivering at Cache Valley Hospital is the celebratory meal for the new parents. The hospital partners with two local restaurants to bring in a gourmet meal on a day of their choosing.
“My husband and I got to choose from a menu of several entrees — steak, chicken, ravioli — as well as an appetizer and dessert. It all looked so good. It was brought to our room, white tablecloth and all. Absolutely delicious! It was so nice to be pampered. And this kind of partnership between a local restaurant and local hospital is great.”
The hometown feeling of the hospital and care team made a big impression on Katie. “I loved that it was a smaller hospital; you don’t feel like you’re getting rushed in and out. It sounds weird, but it felt like family. They even sent a card to our home afterward, so it felt like I wasn’t just another patient — we were remembered.”
