Chelsie Kayiki
Chelsie knew she wanted to deliver in a place that made her feel comfortable while still getting great care, which she found at Cache Valley Hospital.
In the past, we've used the hospital for other services but this was our first time delivering at Cache Valley Hospital. We've had a fantastic experience and I would definitely have another baby here if I do!
When I was a medical student I worked with Dr. Kristin Craig, so I already had a great relationship with her and knew that she was an excellent physician. When I found out that I was pregnant, I knew that I wanted to have her as my provider — she is fantastic.
As far as my experience at Cache Valley Hospital, everything has gone very smooth from check in to surgery. I like that it feels like a smaller hospital but still provides really exceptional care. I work at a rural hospital, so I was surprised to come to Logan and find that comforting feel of a small hospital.
I did have anxiety about being pregnant and delivering during the pandemic. Knowing that I had a good team of healthcare providers caring for me made me feel more confident. But yes, the pandemic in general was very anxiety provoking.
There were no issues with the current guidelines in place — it worked out ok. I definitely understand the reasoning for patient and staff safety. Although it's not what you plan on, I do appreciate the extra precautions.
To the other women who may be expecting during the pandemic, I would say even though it's a time of uncertainty, they do have guidelines in place that will keep you and your baby safe. Definitely follow the recommendations from your healthcare provider. And most importantly, be seen if you feel like there's anything that feels different during your pregnancy. You have knowledgeable providers who can answer those questions and alleviate those fears during this uncertain time.
Cache Valley Hospital has a very professional and competent staff, who do a great job. We've had just a really outstanding experience. The nursing staff has been super as well as the doctors involved in our care. There was a lot of smaller touches, like the celebration dinner, that were unexpected but added to our great experience.
