Salt Lake City, UT — Longtime healthcare executive Matt Hasbrouck has been named the chief executive officer at St. Mark’s Hospital, the facility announced. Hasbrouck will begin his new role on August 12 at Utah’s first hospital, which has been caring for patients in the state since 1872.

“I’m excited for this opportunity, both because of the hospital’s tremendous legacy and its bright future,” said Hasbrouck. “We’re poised to serve even more Utahns in a beautifully renovated and expanded facility. With our 1,700 colleagues and a team of world-class physicians, we’ll chart the future of St. Mark’s and raise the level of care in Utah.”

Hasbrouck is familiar with the Wasatch Front and even with St. Mark’s Hospital, having served as an assistant administrator there at the start of his now 13-year career with the hospital’s parent health system, HCA Healthcare. Since then, he has held leadership roles at sister facilities in South Carolina and Georgia. Most recently, he was the CEO at Memorial Health Meadows Hospital, where he improved the hospital’s operational and financial performance while also achieving a 5-star CMS rating.

“Matt’s results speak for themselves, and we’re fortunate to bring such an experienced and high-performing leader to our Utah team,” said Evan Ray, president of HCA Healthcare’s Mountain Division, an award-winning network that is comprised of the 80 sites of care in Utah’s MountainStar Healthcare as well as sister facilities in Alaska and Idaho. “Throughout his career, his facilities have achieved outstanding results and patient experience metrics while also engaging colleagues and physicians.”

A native of Minneapolis, Matt earned his bachelor’s degree at his hometown University of Minnesota before receiving his Master of Healthcare Administration degree at the University of North Carolina.

Last year, St. Mark’s Hospital celebrated 50 years in its current Millcreek location, at the same time it expanded its footprint with the opening of a 5-story patient tower. The 308-bed facility is one of the nation’s best for patient safety and cared for patients in roughly 100,000 combined ER visits, inpatient stays, surgeries and deliveries in 2023.
