Salt Lake City, UT — HCA Healthcare’s Mountain Division, which serves Utahns at 80 MountainStar Healthcare sites of care, was once again named one of the nation’s 15 Top Health Systems™.

The annual list from PINC AI™, the technology and services brand of Premier, Inc., recognizes the top health systems based on measurements around clinical and extended outcomes, operational performance and patient experience. The Mountain Division was recognized in 2023 and again in 2024.

“This tremendous accomplishment belongs to our entire team,” said Evan Ray, president of HCA Healthcare’s Mountain Division. “This recognition is the result of the skill and compassion on display in each of our 1.5 million annual patient interactions, and also of the thoughtful coordination and shared purpose across our team of 10,000 professionals.”

The Mountain Division is comprised of the MountainStar Healthcare network in Utah as well as sister facilities in Alaska and Idaho. It is one of 15 divisions of HCA Healthcare, one of the nation’s leading providers of health services. The knowledge, data and best practices from HCA Healthcare’s 43 million annual patient interactions help to continually enhance the care delivered locally, division leaders say.

“We're proud of this honor, but not satisfied,” Ray added. “We continue to identify opportunities to advance our capabilities and earn the trust of even more families here in Utah with our award-winning care.”

Seven of the division’s 11 hospitals were previously named to PINC AI’s list of the Top 100 Hospitals™, including six MountainStar facilities. MountainStar Healthcare also made the 15 Top Health Systems list in 2021.

The Utah-based MountainStar Healthcare network features eight hospitals from Logan to Payson, plus five freestanding emergency departments (with a sixth opening this summer in Syracuse), eight CareNow urgent care clinics, as well as an integrated network of imaging locations, physician clinics and surgery centers.

According to analysis by PINC AI™, the highest-performing health systems in the 2024 report had 21% fewer deaths than peer health systems, 13.8% fewer patients with complications and better patient experience scores. Health systems neither apply to participate nor opt in or out of the annual report, and award recipients do not pay to market their honor.
