Surgery
Surgery is a branch of medicine that involves treating diseases or injuries by adjusting or removing organs, tissues or bones. Surgery includes both necessary procedures, like cardiac surgery, or elective procedures, such as joint replacement.
Comprehensive surgical care
Lone Peak Hospital has several options to meet your surgical needs, whether your doctor has recommended inpatient or outpatient surgery. Our advanced surgical technologies, state-of-the-art operating rooms and minimally invasive procedures help patients see greater results with smaller incisions and move on to faster recoveries.
Inpatient procedures
Inpatient surgeries are performed in our surgical unit followed by recovery on our fourth floor medical/surgical unit. We welcome family members and visitors as you recover and offer personalized care during this time of healing.
Outpatient procedures
Most surgical procedures don't require lengthy hospital stays. In fact, many require no overnight stay at all (often called day, outpatient or same-day surgeries). When possible, we offer outpatient procedures to help patients get back to their lives as quickly as possible.
Surgical specialties we offer
We offer many surgical specialties to ensure patients receive the care that is right for them.
General surgery
Our multispecialty team of general surgeons is prepared to perform a wide range of general surgical procedures—from hernia repair to laparoscopic gallbladder removal. Our surgical team will work together to accurately diagnose and treat your condition.
Ear nose and throat (ENT) surgery
Our ENT team provides treatment for conditions of the head and neck. We do this through offering a range of diagnostic, screening, treatment and follow-up care services. Whether you need surgery, minimally invasive procedures or other types of care, we can help.
Gynecologic surgery
If conservative treatments do not relieve pain or other symptoms of gynecologic conditions, surgery may be recommended. Our surgical options for these conditions are highly advanced and typically minimally invasive, which translates to a shorter recovery time for you.
Some gynecologic procedures we perform include:
- Endometrial resection
- Hysterectomy
- Myomectomy
- Ovarian cystectomy
Robotic gynecologic surgery
Surgeons use robot-assisted surgery to perform many gynecologic procedures, including robotic hysterectomy. Using this advanced type of minimally invasive surgical technology, the surgeon has extreme precision while operating through tiny incisions. For some patients, that can result in shorter hospital stays, faster recoveries and less scarring.
Orthopedic surgery
Our expert orthopedic surgeons know just how much pain can influence your life. This is why we offer advanced surgical options for orthopedic conditions when conservative methods aren't effective. From spine surgery to joint replacement surgery, our team will create an individualized treatment plan to help you regain mobility and live pain-free.
Pediatric craniofacial surgery
At Lone Peak Hospital, we understand that when it comes to your child, you want specialized pediatric care. Because of this, our pediatric craniofacial team works together to provide comprehensive, compassionate care to children with cleft lip, cleft palate and other craniofacial disorders. We offer a variety of craniofacial surgical procedures and treat each child with the delicate care they need to heal.
Spine surgery
If nonsurgical care does not fully address your symptoms, surgery may be an option. We use minimally invasive surgery whenever possible to promote your best possible recovery. Our surgical care options include:
- Discectomy
- Laminectomy
- Lumbar decompression
- Nonfusion treatments
- Spinal fusion
- Cervical fusion
- Lumbar fusion
Robot-assisted spinal fusion
Using robotic technology, our spine surgeons can locate anatomical structures and place spinal implants with a high degree of accuracy. This advanced spine surgery combines the benefits of navigation and robotic guidance into one treatment. Our spine surgeons work to improve many conditions, including fractures, slipped discs and scoliosis.
