Diagnosing orthopedic conditions
We use advanced imaging tools to identify damage and disease to the bones, joints, spine and soft tissues. Some of these tools include:
- Computed tomography (CT)
- Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
- X-ray
Our orthopedic specialists use the results from these exams as well as any other evaluations or tests, to determine the type of care you need to heal.
Back pain treatment
Our spine doctors are experts at spine care, pinpointing the cause of back, neck and spine pain. Our goal is to resolve your pain and restore your quality of life with the least invasive spine-care treatments.
Spine surgery
When nonsurgical treatments do not relieve your back pain or other symptoms, surgery may be an effective option. In these cases, you'll find our spine surgeons are experienced in performing a wide range of spine procedures to treat spinal fractures, bulging discs and other conditions.
Joint pain treatment
Your joints are complex structures with multiple bones and tissues working together to allow smooth, pain-free movement. However, you may experience joint pain when any part of your joint becomes damaged or diseased, such as by arthritis.
Our specialists provide comprehensive joint care in our orthopedic center, and we will work with you to accurately diagnose the cause of your pain. From there, we can suggest an effective treatment to resolve your pain and restore your joint health.
Joint replacement surgery
Sometimes, the best way to restore your joint health is through a joint replacement surgery. This procedure involves replacing a damaged joint with an artificial joint (prosthesis).
Depending on the condition of your joint, your surgeon may recommend a partial or total joint replacement. A partial replacement is performed when only a portion of the joint is damaged and needs to be replaced. A total replacement is performed when all components of the joint need to be replaced.
Our joint replacement surgeons perform:
- Ankle replacements
- Hip replacements
- Knee replacements
- Shoulder replacements
Robotic hip and knee replacements
We are pleased to offer robot-assisted surgery for knee and hip replacements. Using this sophisticated technology, your surgeon precisely aligns and positions the implants to your natural anatomy with intraoperative guidance. This creates a more natural-fitting implant, which results in a more natural-feeling hip or knee joint.
Sports medicine services
Our sports medicine program offers access to board-certified sports medicine physicians close to home. We offer a variety of nonsurgical treatments for musculoskeletal injuries to minimize your time away from sports, school and work.
If surgery is necessary, our orthopedic surgeons use minimally invasive techniques whenever possible to help shorten your recovery time.
Where surgery gave Ramona her life back
Ramona is 91-years-old. No matter the weather, including rain and snow, she enjoys going for a long walk around her neighborhood - over a mile! Unfortunately, she started experiencing severe knee pain, making it hard to walk. Past experiences left her with a fear of doctors and in a lot of pain. When she met the surgeon at Lone Peak Hospital, she knew she would only have surgery with him. Her total knee replacement surgery went smoothly and she experienced no pain. She was even able to walk the same day as the surgery and returned to her job (yes, she still works!) the day she came home from the hospital.
