Our emergency medical process

Upon arrival to the ER, a triage nurse will greet you to collect some information about your situation. They use this to sort and prioritize patients according to medical needs and symptoms.

Once the nurse evaluates your condition, they will ask about your medical history, take your vital signs and take steps to pre-register you. Afterward, once you are assigned to a room in the ER, a nurse and a physician will evaluate you to determine the best treatment plan for your situation.

Our emergency services

As part of our complete emergency care services, we provide advanced:

Chest pain care

A heart attack is a life-threatening medical condition, but quick treatment can help by saving lives and reducing long-term heart damage. We provide this treatment as an accredited Chest Pain Center, delivering fast, effective heart attack care.

Stroke care

A stroke (cerebrovascular accident)  is a sudden interruption in the blood supply of the brain. Within minutes, brain tissue starts to die and causes a sudden loss of function. However, the after-effects of stroke can be minimized with early intervention and treatment. This is why we have assembled a group of experts to deliver the most advanced stroke care. They work to ensure you are diagnosed and treated as quickly as possible.

Pediatric emergencies

Our friendly emergency physicians and nurses greet your child with a smile and get them in-and-out quickly so there is little fear and even less waiting. If they need extra or more critical care, we also offer pediatric intensive care at our emergency pediatric unit. Here, we provide pediatric imaging and surgery, if needed, to ensure you have convenient access to a full range of diagnostics and treatments.

Pediatric intensive care

Timpanogos Regional Hospital is home to Utah County’s only pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), to support little ones with severe injuries or illnesses.

Additionally, if your child needs extra care overnight in our PICU, our pediatric intensivist is available around-the-clock. This allows us to provide expert pediatric consultation and immediate care in most cases and prevent the need to transfer your child to another facility.

Our PICU features:

  • Brightly colored, kid-friendly exam rooms
  • "Courage cape" for your little superhero upon arrival
  • Activities to keep your child distracted during treatment
  • Family waiting area complete with kid movies and tablet
  • Physicians, nurses and respiratory therapists trained in pediatric advanced life support (PALS)
  • On-site suction clinic for respiratory distress
