If you have had health insurance coverage through your state’s Medicaid program in the past or believe you may qualify now, please be aware that requirements have recently changed.
In 2020, the federal government stopped requiring the annual Medicaid redetermination process in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. And until early this year, state Medicaid agencies continued to pause the process.
Now, all states are once again following the Medicaid redetermination process, and so you will need to complete the application process and receive approval to have Medicaid coverage.
If you believe you are still eligible for Medicaid, now is the time to act:

- Confirm your contact information (mailing address and phone number) with your state agency to make sure you receive important communication about the changes and application process
- Respond to all Medicaid-issued notices and provide any requested documentation to verify eligibility

If you or your spouse has had a change in employment status, you may be able to sign up for an employer-sponsored health insurance plan through your job or your spouse’s job. Check with the employer’s human resources department for more information. You also may purchase a plan through the Health Insurance Marketplace.
