Emergency care process
When you arrive at our ER, if you have a seriously urgent issue or rapidly changing condition, as determined by our triage specialists, one of our physicians will see you immediately. However, in general, you can expect the following process when you come to the ER:
- The triage specialist will ask you a few questions to determine the reason for your visit.
- A nurse will collect some more information and your vital signs, to pre-register you.
- You will then receive medical attention according to the seriousness of your condition, as determined by the triage nurse.
- After you are assigned to an ER room, a nurse and physician will evaluate you, completing registration at your bedside to ensure you receive care as quickly as possible.

Our facility provides a range of emergency services and supporting resources, such as a diagnostic imaging suite with advanced imaging tools. We also offer:
Heart attack care
The most effective and potentially life-saving time to treat heart attacks is during the critical early stages. That’s why our cardiac care teams aim to significantly shorten the time it takes to accurately diagnose and treat every patient who has chest pain or other heart attack symptoms.
To better meet that goal, we enhanced our cardiac care processes to meet or exceed stringent national standards and demonstrated a higher level of expertise when caring for patients with heart disease. As a result of that collaborative effort, Lone Peak Hospital is an accredited Chest Pain Center, through the American College of Cardiology Accreditation Services.
Pre-hospital readings for heart attack patients
In partnership with our local medical response teams, we offer in-ambulance diagnostics for patients experiencing a heart attack. These patients are assessed using 12-lead electrocardiogram (EKG) technology, which transmits valuable information about your condition to our emergency physicians. They will then be able to have a treatment plan ready and waiting to provide quick, effective care to the patient when they arrive.
Learn hands-only CPR to treat heart attacks
When someone has a heart attack, we believe everyone nearby can become part of their life-saving heart care team with the two easy steps of hands-only CPR. This technique can more than double a person’s chances of survival following sudden cardiac arrest. It is an effective option for people who are untrained in conventional CPR, which includes rescue breathing.
If you think someone is having a heart attack, follow these steps:
- Call 911
- Push hard and push fast in the center of the person’s chest (roughly 100 compressions per minute)
Pediatric emergency care
Our ER specialists have additional training in pediatrics and the right equipment on hand to meet the unique needs of diagnosing and treating children and teens. They are tuned in to the stress kids and their parents can feel in emergency situations and will do their best to make you all comfortable during your time with us.
