What is the DAISY award?

The DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune System) Award is an international recognition program that honors and celebrates the skillful, compassionate care nurses provide every day. The DAISY Foundation was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes after he died from complications of the auto-immune disease ITP in 1999. During his hospitalization, they deeply appreciated the care and compassion shown to Patrick and his entire family. When he died, they felt compelled to say “thank you” to nurses in a very public way. The DAISY Award was created in his memory to recognize nurses that make a meaningful difference in a patient’s care.

What is the SUNRISE award?

The Sunrise Award is Lakeview Hospital's award program to recognize non-nursing staff for the exceptional care they provide either directly or indirectly to our patients. Our Sunrise Award honorees demonstrate the mission and values of our hospital each and every day. They are recognized as role models in our facility. Lakeview Hospital is proud to recognize a Sunrise winner every quarter. Each Sunrise Award Honoree is recognized in their unit and receives a certificate, award pin, and a hand-carved stone sculpture entitle A Healer’s Touch.
