Take me to Cache Valley Hospital: Where care feels like coming home

Baelie Toalepai and her husband chose Cache Valley Hospital, 100 miles away, to welcome their son Ilias. The personalized care and ongoing support made them feel like family, no matter the distance.

For Baelie Toalepai, choosing where to welcome her children into the world wasn’t just a practical decision — it was deeply personal. Even though she lives 100 miles away in South Jordan, UT, Baelie knew Cache Valley Hospital was the place for both of her deliveries. Why? Because the care she received there was more than medical; it felt like family.

“We didn’t even consider going anywhere else. Cache Valley is where I knew I’d be in good hands,” Baelie said. After her first experience with Dr. Bertoldo and the Cache Valley maternity team, there was no question about coming back for her second child. “The staff are amazing. They don’t just see you as another patient — they care about you like family.”

Baelie’s bond with Cache Valley Hospital began with her first pregnancy, where she faced some challenges getting pregnant. With Dr. Bertoldo’s guidance and the unwavering support of the nurses, Baelie found not only expert medical care but genuine emotional support. “I felt heard, valued, and reassured every step of the way,” she shared.

A second homecoming where care feels personal

Baelie’s first experience at Cache Valley Hospital set a high standard, and her second delivery was no different. Despite living over 100 miles away, Baelie and her husband J didn’t hesitate to make the trip. “There wasn’t even a question. Cache Valley is like family to us,” she said. From the moment they arrived, Baelie felt the same warm, attentive care she had come to expect.

On the day of her second delivery, Baelie was greeted by familiar faces, including her nurse Tess, who had helped with her first delivery. “It was like seeing family after being apart for a while,” Baelie recalled. The connection and continuity of care put her at ease, making her feel that she and her baby were in the best hands. Tess and the team ensured that Baelie’s delivery was smooth and safe, even when things became a little tense.

During labor, after receiving her epidural, Baelie’s baby’s heart rate dropped suddenly. While the situation could have caused panic, Tess remained calm and composed. “You could tell she knew something was off, but she didn’t let it show. She handled everything with such confidence,” Baelie shared. Within moments, Tess had everything under control, reassuring Baelie and J that their baby was okay. The staff’s quick response and professionalism in the face of uncertainty left a lasting impression on Baelie. “It makes me teary thinking about how on top of everything they were,” she said.

For Baelie and J, the experience reaffirmed their decision to return to Cache Valley Hospital, where care goes beyond medical expertise — it’s about compassion, trust, and feeling like part of a family.

Life after delivery: Support that goes beyond the hospital

For Baelie, the care at Cache Valley Hospital didn’t stop after she gave birth. A few weeks after welcoming her second son, Ilias, she received an unexpected call. “I looked down at my phone and saw Cache Valley Hospital calling. I thought, ‘Oh no, they must be calling about a bill,’” Baelie laughed. To her surprise, it was a nurse from the maternity team checking in on how she and her baby were doing. “She wasn’t calling about paperwork. She genuinely cared about my well-being.”

The call wasn’t just about how Baelie was recovering physically — it also touched on her emotional health. After Baelie mentioned she had experienced postpartum depression following her first child, the nurse made sure she was informed about her increased risk and encouraged her to reach out if she needed any help. “That kind of follow-up really showed me how much they cared, not just about the baby but about me too,” Baelie said.

This level of support made a lasting impact. For Baelie and her husband, J, the care from Cache Valley Hospital extended far beyond the delivery room. “It feels like they’re always there for us, even after we’ve left the hospital,” Baelie shared. That personal, continued connection made Cache Valley Hospital feel like more than just a place for healthcare — it felt like family.

Looking ahead: A family's trust in Cache Valley Hospital

As Baelie and J settle into life with two young boys, they can’t help but feel excited about the future. Their oldest son, Iroh, has already taken on his role as a protective big brother to baby Ilias. “It’s been amazing to watch him adjust. He’s always checking on Ilias, and I can already see them forming a bond,” Baelie said. She’s looking forward to watching her two boys grow up together and imagines plenty of sibling adventures ahead. “I’m just excited to see them wrestle, get into trouble, and grow up side by side.”

For Baelie, the future is bright, and part of that comes from knowing she has a trusted place for her family’s healthcare. Cache Valley Hospital has become more than just a hospital — it’s the place she turns to for compassionate, personalized care. “There’s no other place I’d go,” Baelie said. “It doesn’t matter if you’re 10 miles away or 100 miles away, Cache Valley is where you’ll find the best care.”

When asked why she continues to say, “Take me to Cache Valley Hospital,” her answer is simple: “It’s like family. The care is personal, and you know they have your best interests at heart. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.”
