90 miles to a new knee

Cindy Pack has arthritis almost everywhere in her body. Everywhere except for her knees. At least that's how it was until a year and a half ago.

Cindy started noticing pain during her regular morning walks, which progressively intensified as time went on. And after a year and a half, she could no longer move without significant pain.

"It wasn't terrible every day, but after a while it was unbearable. Every time I took a step I had pain shoot down and up from the meniscus, which I later learned was fraying."

Cindy knew she probably needed surgery, but she was nervous. She expressed her concerns to her physician, Dr. Michael Hoffman, an orthopedic surgeon, who helped reassure her. It also helped that several of Cindy's neighbors had been treated by Dr. Hoffman and raved about him.

While Cindy lives in Alpine, Utah, she chose to have her knee replacement surgery at Brigham City Community Hospital at Dr. Hoffman's recommendation.

Cindy was in the hospital for two days and says of her caregivers at Brigham City Community Hospital: "They could not have been better. The staff assigned to me were personable and friendly as well as being professional at all times."

Cindy is now about half way through her post-operation recovery, and she says it's going well. "I'm walking really well and have good range of motion. I'm not even fully recovered yet and the pain is already nothing like what is was before." She says other people who know her have even commented about the difference they see in her.

Of her experience at Brigham City Community Hospital, Cindy says "I honestly have never been treated better. I am so very grateful for the entire experience."
