Expert Stroke Care at MountainStar Hospitals

Hundreds of people each year experience a debilitating stroke. The after-effects of this “brain attack” can be minimized with early intervention and treatment. That is why we aim to be your most trusted resource for stroke education, innovation and evidence-based care.

To achieve that goal, we’ve assembled teams of knowledgeable, experienced experts to deliver the most advanced stroke care and education. They work closely with neurologists and neurosurgeons to help stroke patients to maximize their recovery, grow stronger and achieve a healthier lifestyle.

MountainStar hospitals in three states are working toward achieving national and state certifications for treating this devastating condition.

Primary Stroke Center Designations
Several of our hospitals have received certification by the Joint Commission as specialized centers providing the highest level of comprehensive stroke care: advanced time-critical emergency stroke care, including specialized radiology, neurology, and neurosurgery expertise; as complete inpatient treatment and outpatient rehabilitative programs for stroke patients.

Certified Stroke Receiving Centers
These faciliteis have procedures, equipment, and protocols in place to provide time-critical emergency stroke care, in consultation with one of the Primary Stroke Centers.

Utah Stroke System
This statewide initiative takes a systematic approach to treating stroke victims in Utah. It links 911 dispatch, EMS agencies and hospital emergency departments across the state. Within this “hub and spoke” system, these independent entities will act as a coordinated team to rapidly assess potential stroke victims and deliver evidence-based treatment quicker and more accurately.   

St. Mark’s Hospital was the first in Utah to be recognized as  a stroke receiving facility. Today, all of the MountainStar hospitals in Utah have achieved this important status.
